From the editor

As skirt! editor, one of my jobs is to interview the women we profile each month. This month’s theme was “She’s the Boss,” and I’ve had the opportunity to meet some of the city’s most inspiring female leaders. I asked each one, “What advice would you offer young women starting out in the workforce?” Invariably I would get responses like, “Take risks. Follow your heart. Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do something.”
For me, taking the job as editor of skirt! was something of a risk. I had a good job that paid the bills. I had a young family who counted on my income to help support it. But when the opportunity to work for skirt! came my way, I couldn’t pass it up. I believe in this magazine, and I believe in the message it has for women—“Take risks. Follow your heart. Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do something.” And I’m excited to be a part of that message.
